Ah, the sounds of the seaside. I used to think that the sound of seagulls was an entrancing, relaxing sound. Now that I live near a gorge and the damned creatures hang around on top of my building and the one next door, I have a completely different association the squawk of the seagulls!
I have realised that the horrid creatures are not like other birds, they do not make sounds at dusk and again at days; some days seagulls screech all night long. I have been startled awake by their blasted cries, I have also been kept awake because of it. They are not quiet during the day either. This is doing my head in!
I grew up with the sound of songbirds. Sure, it is annoying in the summer time when their sound wakes you at the crack of dawn but usually sleep can return as the songbirds' call isn't as shrill and freaken loud!
I now have desires to throw stones at those stupid flying water rats! I want to knock them off of the building next door with a sling-shot, I dream of being able to strangle them when they keep me from sleeping!
I am reminded of the song 'Poisoning pigeons in the park' from Tom Lehrer, but with seagulls.

I don't think I will be renewing my lease when it is up in another 2 months. I will, for my sanity, find something away from the waterways and seagulls.
What can I say of a Flock of Seagulls?
Oh .. And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.
